Landfill Site Visit
In January 2009 Thomas Keble School in Stroud took part in the County’s first ever Zero Waste Challenge. The Asdan pupils took the lead, and visited the landfill site at Stoke Orchard.
They then undertook a whole-school waste audit. This involved them getting down and dirty, weighing one day’s waste from 700 pupils!
Their valiant efforts took place in the Hall, and from the 41.02kg of waste they analysed that day, they worked out that their school would produce an average of 8,204kg per year, or 11.72kg per pupil per year. Their findings then prompted them to communicate their findings to the school, via an assembly. Well done everyone!
