Slimbridge School Launch Dragonfly Competition

Children from Slimbridge Primary School helped launch the start of the dragonfly competition, which is open to all schools in the county.

The Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT) hosted the event, and the pupils watched a film before going on a dragonfly trail in the grounds of Slimbridge. After that they took part in two workshops run by WWT and Recycle for Gloucestershire. One pupil told RFG “ I wish I could come here every day, I’ve had a fantastic time and I have learned so much about dragonflies”

To register your school for the competition please email Katherine.cole@gloucestershire.gov.uk

The Dragonfly Sculpture Competition aims to raise the awareness of the benefits of recycling aluminium drinks cans and foil and will encourage school children and their families to use their own local recycling systems (banks, Household Recycling Centres, and kerbside boxes). It is also intended to celebrate the completion of the new Dragonfly breeding pond at WWT Slimbridge.
