Waste: Rotten Rubbish or Valuable Resource?

This day is organised in conjunction with Gloucestershire County Council, WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme), Printwaste, Cory and May Gurney. During the course of the day, you will be introduced to key members of staff from each organisation.

The programme will include a tour of Wingmoor Farm landfill site, the adjacent household recycling centre and one of Printwaste’s sites. There will also be a ‘composting in school’ session with WRAP. The day is based in Bishop’s Cleeve and Stoke Orchard, just North of Cheltenham.

·      visit waste and recycling facilities in order to update your knowledge of waste management
·      find out about and make contact with staff who can organise opportunities for pupil visits
·      make useful contacts for the delivery of linked curriculum areas
·      explore methods of increasing recycling and composting in your school
·      provide vital CPD to update your business and industry experience, knowledge and understanding and support employer engagement
 
NB The day will move between venues, car-sharing would be appreciated and can be arranged on the day. Wet weather clothes may be needed along with suitable sturdy shoes or wellies.
            
Target audience: teachers and lecturers in Science, Applied Science KS4 and 5, PSHEE and Citizenship, Geography, Design Technology, WRL and Careers,  those preparing for the Diploma in Environmental and Land-based studies and Public Services, and teachers seeking to engage employers in curriculum development, Connexions staff.  Teachers from the secondary, special or primary sectors and Lecturers from FE or HE institutions are welcome.
