WOW @ lunchtime
Between November 20th and 28th 2010 Recycle for Gloucestershire will be running a Waste Reduction Challenge where we will be encouraging residents to reduce, reuse, recycle and compost as much of their waste as possible.
We would like Gloucestershire Schools to take part in the challenge by holding a WOW (Wipe out Waste) @ lunchtime event.
WOW @ lunchtime will encourage pupils to have a waste free lunch. For those children who have school dinners we will ask that they think about portion size and make sure they finish their food.
The school decides when to hold their event and chooses how many pupils will be involved (from a single class to the entire school). We have written a letter for you to download and send out to parents explaining about WOW @ lunchtime and asking for their help. We will also supply posters to promote your event, lunchbox/snack box stickers for the children and plenty more information.
Our Green Fairy is available to visit a limited number of school assemblies (or classes) to promote WOW @ lunchtime and inspire children and staff. These visits will be allocated on a first come first served basis and will take place during the weeks beginning 8th and 15th November.
If you would like to take part please email hannah.gray@gloucestershire.gov.uk by Friday 22nd October at the very latest. Please include the following details –
· name of school
· name of contact person and contact details
· number of children taking part
· indicate whether you would be interested in a visit from our Green Fairy to introduce the event
We’ll then send you some more information, posters and stickers.
Schools will be asked to complete a simple feedback form to be in with a chance of winning a £50 voucher from Wiggly Wigglers, the award winning natural gardening company.
Schools that have signed up to the Schools Challenge will earn 25 points for taking part in this event. We hope that you’ll be interested in joining in with WOW @ lunchtime.
Best Wishes,
The RfG Schools team.
